Short History: A Grinder is a sandwich variation that is more common in New England, and is usually served hot, while a submarine sandwich is usually served cold. One theory states that grinders get their name because they require so much grinding or chewing to get through a bite – they had a sturdier bread and they’re typically packed with more than your average sandwich. Reheating Instructions: Warm the filling in a pan over medium heat until hot. Toast the bread if you like and fill.
